Meeting Anne
About three weeks before we left the UK I found out that I had a Great Aunty living in Sydney, and I definitely wanted to meet up with her if we had the chance. So, on Friday we went to meet her at Circular Quay for lunch. Really strangely, I got a little bit choked when we met at the train station. I don't know why! Because like I said I had only found out about her existence a few weeks before. Maybe you just 'know' family when you see them, maybe it was just because meeting her had been unlikely but then suddenly there we were. It was so nice - we got on like a house on fire! We chatted away for a few hours over lunch and it was so nice to hear all about her life in Australia and the life she had shared with my Dad's Uncle. A little bit sad, too, as she said that she regrets having moved over. At least we both now have something extra to look forward to when she comes over to the UK for the last time next year- she said the trip is getting to be too much as she gets older. And I will definitely be back to Sydney and will see her again then. I just need to convince my parents to come over!!
